Kagoshima City

I spent a few days in Kagoshima City last month, specifically the tenmonkan area (天文館). Host to countless shops, bars and restaurants, tenmonkan is a nice change from Tanegashima where the streets play host to the odd stray cat and passing tumbleweed.

I spent most of day wandering around the city’s many streets and back alleys, taking photos of whatever caught my eye. On my second day  I hopped on a train to the outskirts of the city and realised that this was the first time I had been on a train in Kagoshima!  As expected, it arrived and departed on schedule to the second!

There wasn’t much to see in the countryside, I guess everything looked a bit too much like Minamitane! So I caught a train back to the city and concentrated on shots of the city dwellers.

After visiting a nice reataurant and a couple of bars, I dodged the rain and shot into the early morning. Things look great in the wet – the streets sparkle and umbrellas alwyays look cool!
